resizeb829A spherical bearing consists of an outer ring, an inner ring, and a locking feature that makes the inner ring captive within the outer ring in the axial direction only. A spherical bearing permits angular rotation about a central point in two orthogonal directions. Typically these bearings support a rotating shaft in the bore of the inner ring that must move not only rotationally, but also at an angle.

Most spherical bearings have an outer raceway that is a portion of a sphere. In this way, they are internally self-aligning. Each roller has a curved form at right angles to the direction of rotation, which conforms relatively closely to the inner and outer raceways. This housing gives this bearing high radial load carrying capacity.

Applications for these bearings include heavy support rollers, ship line and rudder shafts, crankshafts, rolling mills, car suspensions, engines, drive shafts, sewing machine mechanisms, and grinding machines.

Proautobearing maintains stock in a wide range of Spherical Roller Bearings manufactured by leading bearing brands to allow customers to meet diverse requirements.
